The favorable natural environment and the long years of history have
influenced the evolution of the rich and vibrant culture of Guangzhou.
Guangdong (Cantonese) music has a graceful melodies and brisk rhythm that is
acclaimed throughout the Republic of China, and the Cantonese opera has
integrated elements of many folk arts together. The drawing techniques of

FESTIVALS
There are many festivals and celebrations in Guangzhou in
conjunction with its long-standing culture and ancient folk art, and they are
often full of life and energy. Guangzhou's festivals embody both history and
reality. The popular festivals here are the Spring Flower Fair, Lantern
Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Lotus Festival, Lychee Festival, Chongyang or
Double-Ninth Festival (a festival for the aged, falls on the 9th of the 9th
month on the Chinese lunar calendar), China Tourism Art Festival & Guangdong
Merry-making Festival, as well as Guangdong International Cuisine
Festival.

Spring Festival Flower Fair
Every year on the 28th of the 12th month of Chinese lunar calendar, the streets
in Guangzhou are turned into a massive bed of flowers as flower cultivators
flood to showcase their blooming products which can also be purchased by
interested visitors.
Dragon Boat Festival
For a country abounds in rivers and lakes, it is a national custom for every
Chinese to go and visit relatives or neighbors by dragon boat which is a unique
tradition hardly found anywhere else.
Floating Parade
The Floating Parade is a kind of art rooted in the folk with contents drawn from
operas, novels, folk tales and ancient myths. They are performed naturally
with vivid form and distinctive postures and is thus worth admiring.
Guangzhou Trade Fair
Chinese Export Commodities Fair of Guangzhou Trade Fair is held twice a
year, on 15th April and 15th October; lasting 20 days each time, displaying a
vast range of local products and commodities.
